“Raise Your Impact” was a project including an experiential learning programme that focused on personal development and self-awareness with the aim to empower youth workers in their role, provide space for them to explore their own attitudes in life and look for ways how to bring the most positive impact in the society, through youth work. Our starting point was the following premise: the world is becoming more and more unpredictable, people are losing their ground and questioning their place, their role in the society, their contribution. The numbers of young people suffering from anxiety and depression are raising, caused by long covid pandemics, but also social media pressure, climate crisis, war in Ukraine,...Young people (but also adults of any age), end up feeling isolated, lost and disconnected from others which negatively influences their quality of life. We believe it is a common need of human beings to create impact, to be part of something meaningful and to feel that they can actually influence what is happening around them. This can only happen if we are well grounded in ourselves, we know our values, our strengths and are able to act upon them. Youth workers are people who have a chance to positively influence how young people see themselves and support them in finding direction in their lives. At the same time, we can only support and lead others through things that we have already worked on ourselves. We therefore decided to focus on the topic of personal impact. We wanted to look at what our actions create in our surroundings, how aware people are of the impact they have, how they actually feel confident enough to make their ideas happen, take action and raise their impact. At the same time, when talking about impact, we wanted to raise awareness of values and attitudes that bring people together, include everybody and are coming from the place of cooperation and respect for diversity. We believe that these are necessary attitudes that need to be encouraged if we want to contribute to creating a more connected Europe and the world where people feel safe and actually want to live in and contribute to. The project addressed personal development of youth workers, however at the same time offered various tools and activities that can be adapted and transferred to youth work and activities with youth. The objectives of the project “Raise Your Impact” were: - To prevent harmful and destructive behaviors in youth through self-awareness methods - To empower participating youth workers through self-awareness and raised consciousness of personal values and beliefs in a way that they are able to transfer the outcomes to youth work - To develop youth workers skills in giving and receiving feedback, problem-solving and ability to take action in challenging or unpredictable situations - To provide space for participants to reflect on how language has impact on our reality and how through way we speak we impact ourselves and others - To contribute to development of youth work as a tool for empowerment of young people in the current world - To explore and acquire methods and tools that support value-based education and contribute to creating cooperative and respectful environment -To enhance importance of tolerance, respect for diversity and inclusive attitude as values that are to be encouraged when working with youth
