Objectives

The fight against human-made climate change and the effects of the war in Ukraine are the two biggest crises in Europe. We would like to give the participants input on content and let them work together on ideas for what they see as a good future. Historical-political youth education provides content-related input. We would like to visit memorials and places with remains of World War II and reconstruction in Romania and Germany. The content of these visits is prepared with the participants and then evaluated. We would like to experience nature as a group and use it to talk about sustainable development and joint action. We also address mental health in these times of crisis. Central to the entire project is to bring the Ukrainian participants into contact with the other mostly EU citizens. Core issue to the content level is the question of what cooperation in Europe or between the EU and Ukraine in particular should look like. How should Ukraine be supported? Given tight finances and increasing tasks, what are we willing to spend on Ukraine? How can reconstruction be achieved in a climate-friendly way? How do we deal with the trauma of war and how can we stay mentally healthy in the face of global crises surrounding climate, war and Corona? What can commemoration of the war and the victims look like? All of these questions are prepared in both activities using political, historical and ecological education and answered by the participants within the scope of their possibilities. The aim is to counteract social divisions.
