The topics of environment, sustainability, and climate protection play a particularly important role in the youth sector. Young people and youth groups take to the streets almost weekly to persuade decision-makers to adopt more sustainable solutions for the future. Our trinational project "Environment and Youth for Europe's Future" gave young people the opportunity to gain a transnational perspective and develop different forms of opinion-building. The aim of the project was to provide young people with a self-developed insight into sustainable action, enabling them to independently develop solutions for ecological and social problems in the three countries and thus actively shape their personal and professional future. As part of the three youth exchanges in France, Italy, and Germany, the young people worked in mixed trinational groups on sustainable ideas/innovations that address ecological problems, i.e., a product or activity aimed at solving environmental issues. Since climate change is a global problem, we believe it is important to give young Europeans the opportunity to see what is being done in other European countries. In our youth project, they were able to discover other approaches and exchange best practices to develop new ideas. The young people were supported by the project partners in implementing their ideas. During the three exchange weeks, the young people experienced European mobility through living together in mixed trinational groups and acquired social and intercultural skills. All young people from the three countries were accommodated together in youth hostels and participated in all activities in trinational groups. Three intercultural facilitators were present throughout the exchange to help the young people communicate. The intercultural activities organized by the facilitators enabled the young people to get to know the languages and cultures of other countries and helped to break down prejudices and stereotypes and strengthen friendships among young people. Our project also aimed at the following overarching areas: Promotion of intercultural exchange, diversity, and shared values such as tolerance, respect and friendship, cooperation and peace Promotion of critical thinking and initiative among young people Development of social, intercultural, and professional skills Inclusion of disadvantaged young people Active participation of young people in society
