Objectives

The "Art Against Hate" initiative was aimed at reacting to the increasing problems of online hate speech and cyberbullying, especially among young people. Hate speech is one of the most serious social vices people face during the digital era as people socialize and communicate more online. And it creates a hostile environment that affects the mental health and well-being of people, especially young people." To address this pressing problem, the project focused on equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed for fighting hate speech while promoting respect online to extend positive behaviour into creating a culture of mutual understanding and inclusivity. The objectives of the project were: Raising awareness by educating participants about the nature, impact, and consequences of hate speech and cyberbullying, both online and offline. Empowering youth through creative expression by providing counterparts with the artistic and digital tools (drawing, video-making, stop-motion, online campaigning, etc.) to overcome and combat hate speech; Facilitating intercultural dialogue by engaging in discussions and collaborative activities, uniting young people from diverse backgrounds to foster mutual understanding, tolerance, and respect. Enhancing critical thinking and digital literacy empowers participants to analyse online content, recognise hate speech, and create counter-narratives. To encourage active participation and advocacy by inspiring young people to promote human rights, combat discrimination, and advocate for digital civility. Creating sustainable impact by developing and launching an online campaign to disseminate project outcomes and ensure the longevity of its impact, supported by project partners and participants. Through achieving these objectives, the project aimed to promote a safer and more inclusive digital space where the young generation is empowered to confront hate speech, adopt creative forms of positive activism, and cultivate an online culture based on respect and diversity.
