Our project, "Sustainable Habits," aimed to empower young individuals through youth work practices by focusing on the adoption of sustainable habits and the promotion of active hope. The initiative brought together young persons aged 18–30 from Germany, Poland, and Türkiye, for a week-long program that combined workshops, cross-cultural exchanges, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing activities. Building on the success of a previous initiative, "From Sustainable Legacy to Sustainable Future," this project demonstrated the potential of cross-cultural collaboration to inspire ecological habits and create positive change. The project sought to develop ecological awareness among participants by addressing the urgency of environmental challenges while equipping them with tools to take action. It encouraged collaboration and understanding across cultures by creating a space for participants to share perspectives and work together. Intercultural activities such as a city rallye and group cooking sessions fostered mutual respect and strengthened cross-cultural bonds. Practical activities like crafting bee hotels, making eco-friendly shampoo, and participating in community work at K.E.B.A.P. (KulturEnergieBunkter Altona-Projekt) inspired participants to adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives. The project also emphasized mentorship and knowledge transfer, including intergenerational practices that revived sustainable habits from the past and made them relevant today. Beyond these hands-on experiences, the project empowered participants to disseminate knowledge and inspire positive change in their own communities through follow-up activities and sustainable action plans. By promoting active hope, cross-cultural learning, and sustainable living, "Sustainable Habits" aimed to leave a lasting impact on participants and their communities, contributing to a more sustainable and hopeful future for our planet.
