Objectives

The main goal of the project "Media and Information Literacy for Active Digital European Citizens" (MIL4DEC) was to empower youth workers with the skills and knowledge to engage meaningfully with media and use it as a tool for their personal and professional development, as well as for the benefit of the youth they work with. The project was focused on supporting youth workers in achieving key learning outcomes: knowledge, skills, and attitudes that contribute to their personal growth and enabled them to foster active European citizenship among young people. The objectives included developing critical thinking to evaluate information sources, understanding the role of media in shaping communication and society, and recognizing how media influences public opinion and social systems. The project also aimed to enhance digital skills, addressed ethical and legal issues related to media use, and encouraged active, responsible media use across education, civic engagement, and work contexts. Additionally, the project promoted the development of ethical and responsible media literacy among diverse groups, including marginalized communities, and emphasized the importance of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue in media. By achieving these goals, the project contributed to the broader objectives of fostering informed democratic participation and supporting youth workers in becoming effective leaders and educators in the modern digital age.
