Digital Storytelling is a powerful method that enhances self-expression through creative practices, alternative forms of communication, and digital tools. This approach not only allows for replayability and longevity but also strengthens community building, improves media representation, and raises awareness of issues that may be unfamiliar to many. By fostering empathy, diversity, and inclusion, digital storytelling becomes a catalyst for positive change. This project, structured as a 7-day training course for youth workers, youth leaders, and educators, aims to provide essential knowledge of digital and facilitation tools. These tools are particularly beneficial for those working with marginalized communities or individuals with fewer opportunities. The training emphasizes inclusive practices at its core, employing techniques designed to create safe spaces that celebrate and enhance diversity. The main objectives of the training are: To provide youth workers with first-hand experience in the immersive method of digital storytelling as a form of self-expression. To equip participants with transferable digital media literacy skills that empower their daily work and routines. To demonstrate the core implementation of inclusive practices within the training course's methods and activities. To utilize open-source software and low-tech sustainable hardware, ensuring the method is accessible to all participants. To create a catalog of activities and best practices to help participants facilitate this method in their local communities. To foster a collaborative network of like-minded individuals and partnering organizations focused on diversity and inclusion. Ultimately, this project aims to empower individuals with the tools needed to impact their personal, professional, and social lives, as well as the lives of those they work with. Digital Storytelling is known to enhance empathy, personal growth, capacity, and connection. By providing communities with access to these tools, they will be better equipped to address the challenges of intersectional marginalization and limited opportunities. These tools promote autonomy in representation and increase visibility of issues often overlooked or misunderstood by those outside these experiences.
