Objectives

Build role-play pedagogy that eases acculturation and strengthens youth-work practice, via: - youth workers and educators trained in the project's methodologies, ready to disseminate knowledge in their respective regions. - young migrants, LGBTQ+ community, and artistic youth actively participating in roleplaying sessions, showing increased self-awareness, and acculturation - A Casebook detailing the methodologies, successes, challenges, and recommendations from the project's duration. - a tried-and-tested roleplaying model adaptable to other contexts and regions, backed by tangible results and insights from the project.

Background

Our partners work on the themes of participatory arts in migrant & LGBT+ youth spaces. Our work looked to support migrants by addressing the identity-based pressures of migration, and all our partners are migrant-led themselves, hence the specific focus of our work. We aimed to use roleplaying methods to assist young migrants and minorities in their acculturation process, helping them reconcile and express their identities within their new cultural contexts and to address the specific challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ youth, using roleplaying as a tool for identity exploration, expression, and acceptance. Migrant & LGBTQ+ youth lack safe spaces to explore identity; youth workers in our communities lacked tested tools for these spaces. From this need came our project.
