Objectives

The project DisAbility Meeting Points successfully developed the capacities of the participating organizations in working with young people with intellectual and physical disabilities. A key achievement was the creation of the DisAbility Playbook, an innovative material providing concrete descriptions of activities that enabled interaction between young people with and without disabilities.

Background

We applied for the DisAbility Meeting Points project because we saw a clear need to strengthen inclusion in youth work and to create meaningful opportunities for young people with and without disabilities to interact. In our previous activities, we identified gaps in addressing stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination faced by young people with disabilities, and we felt the urgency to develop practical and innovative tools that would help overcome these barriers. The project directly responded to this need by developing the DisAbility Playbook and offering training, round tables, and youth camps that empowered both young people and those working with them. These activities not only raised awareness about inclusion but also increased the competencies of youth workers and educators, while enhancing the capacities of organizations to cooperate internationally. Through this project, we addressed the need for more inclusive practices, stronger resources for youth work, and transnational cooperation to ensure that young people with disabilities are equally supported and integrated into youth activities and community life.
