We wanted to do a project for young people with special needs in which they can learn something about themselves, their abilities and about other cultures to push their self- esteem. Our 4 main goals were: cultural exchange, improve language skills, encourage kids to support each other and helping the kids to reflect their experiences. Connect Kids from Different Cultures: It creates a platform where children from various cultural backgrounds can come together. They will explore how different cultures handle various situations, which not only provides a rich learning experience but also helps build their self-esteem through collaborative efforts. Enhance Language Skills: The project focuses on encouraging students to learn and use new languages. This helps them improve their communication skills and boosts their confidence as they become more comfortable and proficient in these languages. Encourage Peer Support: Instead of relying on adults for help, the program encourages children to support and rely on each other. This shift helps them feel useful and valued, promotes independence, and strengthens their sense of community. Foster Self-Reflection: Students will be encouraged to reflect on their experiences and progress. This helps them identify and celebrate their strengths, which builds their self-esteem. Additionally, reflecting on their own and others’ achievements can lead to mutual support and encouragement among peers. Overall, the project aimed to create a supportive and enriching environment where children with special needs can thrive. By fostering cultural understanding, improving language skills, encouraging peer support, and promoting self-reflection, the project seeked to empower these children to learn, grow, and support one another in meaningful ways.
