Objectives

The purpose of the project is to give young people the opportunity to test different media options and the ability to navigate the media landscape. The messages that young people want to share with others can be from very different areas and will evolve during the project. As a result of the project, the participating young people are interested and courageous speakers on current issues, want to change things for the better and know that they can influence the course of things. They develop critical thinking and can distinguish between true and false news. Understand the importance of freedom of speech in democratic processes. They have gained knowledge from various media fields, met role models, and gained experience in expressing their views. In order to offer young people an active and practical outlet, the project plans to launch a school radio, a newspaper, and a video podcast, the content of which will be created by the young people themselves. The need for such a project arose when discussing with media studies students where and how they can use what they learned in the course. Dealing with media issues supports creating a more positive and informed communication of the organization. Students are more involved in creating the image of the school. Young people have more space and visibility for self-expression and topics that interest them. The project's activities develop the digital and media competence of young people in order to increase their resistance to disinformation, fake news, and propaganda and to develop their ability to participate in democratic life. Participation in the project develops the following key competencies in young people: personal and social competence, civic competence, entrepreneurship, digital competence, and literacy. The project's activities include the production of content in various media channels on topics important to young people.
