Objectives

After applying once and receiving 82% on this application with Youngish s-owls, we decided to do the proposed adjustments and re-apply it from Altventurers (the new and updated team). By implementing this project, we want to share our knowledge with young people and make them think out of the box. Circular economy concept and culture are two totally different topics but at the same time they can be used in such a way that could bring benefits for individuals and communities. Besides that, we want to make changes in our communities. We want to create an environment where people will be connected with their history in respect to the environment and to human beings. Moreover, we want to create an aftermovie/documentary which would be projected in the Sikino’s and Ios Festival and disseminate the meaning of this project around the world and the importance of making this kind of project in small islands which have small promotion and residents few opportunities. We want to show that non-formal education and learning-by-doing methods make young people understand better and change their way of reaction regarding their culture. Through Circular Cultures youth exchange we want to achieve an increase of active participation in European youth focusing on the local youth at small Cycladic islands. Young people from different countries and different backgrounds will be again together exchanging ideas, promoting European opportunities and discovering the possibility of implementing the principles of circular economy in the cultural sector. We plan to achieve our goal through local activities and visits to the cultural association of Ios where the young citizens have less access to information. Besides the learning outcomes that have already mentioned above, the project is expected to achieve the following objectives: ●Build participants and Islanders’ youth’s understanding for diversity, by setting a platform for real connection between people of different backgrounds - strengthening solidarity in the process. ●Experiencing the whole procedure of organising activities ●Enhancing employability through improving important soft skills (e.g interpersonal, teamwork, creativity etc) ●Developing public speaking and organisational skills, increase creativity and empathy and learn about different beneficial ways to rethink the way we live. ●Raising intercultural awareness, and giving to local participants the opportunity to know more about differences between countries and the variety of European opportunities increase motivation for taking part in future education or training abroad. ●Promote a sense of European citizenship in isolated/rural areas - cultivating European identity. ●Deepen participants’ understanding of the impact and social change that an Erasmus+ or ESC project can have within a small local community, discovering the possibilities of local participation. ●Learning the value of using digital means and film-making to make a change in the world. Lastly, we strongly believe that harmony with the past is creating an opportunity to learn from our cultural heritage, to have intercultural meetings and finding strength in our diversity.
