Objectives

The project REthink 2.0 put its focus on a combined topic including a) environmental issues and b) mental health, especially from the perspective of young people, thus closely aligning with the priorities of the European Union. In an overview, the project managed to reach the following objectives: 1. Environmental Crisis and Mental Health Impact: The project highlighted the urgency of the environmental crisis and its impact on young people’s mental health. Recognizing this as a critical concern for European citizens (especially a high priority for youth in EU) it aimed to explore and tackle the crisis in discussion. The young participants had the chance to learn and explore the different realities around the topic in different EU countries as well as the EU actions plan on this. 2. Exploring Best Practices and Campaigns: The project analyzed and drew lessons from existing best practices, campaigns, and initiatives within different communities. Each sending team of young people presented their reality and good practices that are highlighted in their country. Then a structured dialogue took place through non-formal learning methodologies that allowed all participants to get acquainted with these practices as well to offer their ideas and feedback on the way these work in different realities. This approach facilitated learning, knowledge exchange, and a deeper understanding of effective strategies for addressing environmental and mental health advocacy. 3. Diversity and Inclusion: The participant group comprised individuals from various countries and backgrounds, reflecting the Programme's dedication to cultural, social, and economic diversity. This inclusiveness enriched the learning process and ensured diverse perspectives on the topics discussed. In a general concept, the project aimed to promote intercultural exchange and international cooperation. 4. Participatory Approach and Non-formal Learning: Activities such as team-building exercises, interactive workshops, and training sessions were implemented using a participatory approach and non-formal learning methods. These interactive, hands-on methods fostered greater engagement and improved learning outcomes. 5. Local Impact and Behavioral Change: The project extended its impact to the local community by raising awareness through material developed by the young participants themselves. This local impact was also extended to their local realities in their country and their sending organizations too. Overall, the project sought to inspire individuals to adopt proactive behaviors addressing environmental and mental health challenges and a responsible stance on issues that affect them and their community, by taking action when they deem necessary and especially when others don’t. 6. Erasmus+ Programme Objectives: In general, the goals of the project strongly resonated with those of the Erasmus+ Programme. Specifically, it engaged and supported young people, particularly those facing various difficulties, while enhancing their overall well-being. These objectives mirrored the Programme’s broader aims to benefit youth, promote inclusion, and foster personal development. In essence, the project’s objectives and activities were closely aligned with the European Union's priorities, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability, mental health, youth empowerment, and inclusive learning and participation. Its innovative approach and diverse participant group contributed significantly to these vital areas.
