Objectives

The "Media Literate Youth" project aimed to address the growing challenge of false information and disinformation in the digital age by enhancing media literacy among young people. The primary objective was to raise awareness about the accuracy of information generated by digitalization and to equip participants with the skills needed to critically evaluate and responsibly engage with media. To achieve this, the project focused on several specific goals. First, it sought to educate participants on the basic concepts related to false information, fake news, and disinformation, encouraging a critical and analytical approach to these issues. Another key objective was to combat the phenomenon of the "infodemic"—the rapid spread of misinformation during the pandemic—by teaching participants effective strategies for identifying and addressing such misinformation. The project also emphasized the importance of using verification tools and platforms to combat false information, fostering responsible media consumption and social media use among participants. Community connection was another significant focus. The project aimed to strengthen community ties by bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds. This not only enhanced community bonds but also encouraged collaboration and support across cultural lines, proving essential for cohesive community development. Finally, the project contributed to educational enrichment by offering real-life interactions and discussions. These experiences were intended to complement traditional educational formats, providing participants with a deeper, more practical understanding of the world's cultural and religious complexities. Overall, the "Media Literate Youth" project was a transformative initiative that educated and empowered individuals to bridge cultural divides, thereby enhancing mutual respect and understanding within the community.
