Objectives

In the Youth Exchange "EU is our superpower!" we aspired to build a strong EU citizenship among youngsters as a response to covid19. From 1950 to 2020 we will travel through time to rediscover Europe together. We explored its past, narrated its present and imagined its future; a stronger, more equal and connected Europe. During the 8 days of the exchange we had the opportunity to better understand our significant role as a young generation and rebuild Europe in a post-covid era. We gained new knowledge and skills related to common European policies, drive discussions on how measures to protect EU citizens against the pandemic worked, discussed our role as young activists, digital creators and explore our opportunities as European citizens. As a main result, we created podcast episodes that raised awareness of the EU which are available online for free use to all our peers. This will also be our main dissemination tool. The exchange involved 36 young Europeans from 5 countries (6 participants age 18-30 years old and 1 team leader without age limit per organization): Greece, Czech Republic, Romania, Italy and Poland and took place in Athens, Greece. The main aim of the project was to raise awareness of the European Union among youth. The planned activities resulted in a better understanding of our power to become key actors bringing positive change and strengthening EU foundations. We acknowledged our common European identity and citizenship by being involved in discussions, sharing experiences, feeling empowered and realizing our common values. Our close collaboration resulted in initiatives and strategies to promote European cohesion which was summed up to the podcast episodes we created. Through non-formal education methods, workshops in internationally mixed teams and a well structured and balanced programme between theory and practice, we created a stronger sense of community based on mutual cooperation during the whole project. Our objectives: - promote active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity; - contribute to the sense of belonging to Europe and realize our common European identity and heritage; - promote democratic and social values such as social inclusion, equal opportunities and equal chances through non formal education activities and youth participation; - foster participation of young people in social life through EU Programmes; - acquire digital skills and learn how to create a podcast; - improve the level of key competences of 36 young people, including those with fewer opportunities. The Youth Exchange “EU is our superpower!” was collaboratively designed by the 35 young people as a response to the global pandemic and created an open space of mutual learning, exchange of ideas, necessity to acquire more information about crisis management, active participation in the EU and discover its opportunities.
