The project CIRI Vol3 (Cooperation for Improved Refugee Integration, Volume 3) was part of a process of long term work on refugee, asylum seeker and displaced people integration in their local communities, with sustainable, qualitative, safe and tailored ways. Our organisation works in the field of asylum seeker integration and youth work specialized for young asylum seekers, hence we work on the capacity building and quality of work within our organisation and our partner organisations who work in the same field. This was the third international training course project led by our organisation in this field, and the project was based on our long-term aims, results of the previous CIRI projects, and changing community/organisation needs. The needs we addressed with this project were identified during the previous CIRI series of projects of our organisation, by the asylum seeker/refugee project managers and social workers of our organisation, by our partner organisations, and by our local collaborators in the field of refugee integration. The needs identified and addressed in with this project were: * Insufficient staff training (in humanitarian work ethics and priorities, safety and protection, PSEA – protection of sexual exploitation and abuse, specific protection of minors, ect.); * Insufficient staff training regarding quality of non-formal education in terms of appropriate and tailored non-formal education in the specific context of refugees; * Low staff confidence to work with refugees and low awareness of what qualitative refugee integration can be; * Refugees sometimes feeling as not being fully empowered as active components of their integration process; * Refugees being socially excluded and marginalized in society (due to racism, xenophobia, hate, islamophobia, etc.). Specific objectives of this project were: * To promote youth work and non-formal education as tools for young refugee integration in local societies; * To promote young refugee dignity and active participation in their integration process; * To promote quality in the youth work and non-formal educational activities that young refugees participate in; * To address tailored child protection and safety during youth work and non-formal education activities for young refugees; * To improve relevant competences of 35 youth workers and other professionals doing youth work with young refugees; * To promote cooperation and experience exchange among 12 partner organisations and their 35 staff members; * To define and propose guidelines for qualitative and tailored youth work towards refugees.
