This project aimed to encourage the participation of young people in democratic processes and decision-making. Its goal was to support young people in engaging with democratic processes, helping them work together regardless of their place of origin or cultural background. The objective was for young people, through their involvement in participatory activities, to form a "local youth council." The intention was to establish local youth councils throughout the program, allowing young people to communicate their voices in the form of policy documents to decision-makers at all levels—local, regional, national, and European. Local youth councils were supported by local bodies through the development of local networks, enabling young people to develop their future initiatives with the backing of local communities. Representatives from the youth network formed at the end of the program had the opportunity to present their policy recommendations to other established youth groups and decision-makers, representing the youth voice in the policymaking process. The need for young people’s participation in democratic processes was addressed by helping them engage in participatory activities, workshops, dialogue, and discussions on climate change, while working with their peers to find solutions and propose policy recommendations for policymakers. The policy papers produced at the end of each exchange summarized the results of these discussions and the proposals for youth-targeted policies at all levels. Another key outcome of the project was the creation of local youth councils. These councils consisted of young people who had taken part in the participatory activities, as well as those involved in actions to attract new members and support the youth community, such as information days and networking events. The program aimed for young people to actively participate in policy-making processes and represent the youth voice to decision-makers. It sought the inclusion and interaction of participants, allowing young people to come together, experience personal growth, and gain valuable knowledge, skills, and life values that would benefit both their interpersonal relationships and society as a whole at the local, national, and European levels.
