Objectives

Political participation is an important concept for the development of societies, but when we look at the world, the political participation rate is generally low and especially young people are passive citizens who only vote from election to election and they are not interested in social and political life. At the European level, with the development of technology, young people are increasingly individualized and introverted. According to Eurobarometer reports, in addition to individualization, young people's trust in policy structures is an element that prevents this political participation rate and active citizenship. According to another research, the complexity of the functioning structure of EU institutions causes the distance between EU citizens and decision-making mechanisms to gradually expand. To increase the political participation rates of young people, political participation platforms and city councils were established in various parts of the world, civil society activities were increased and young people were tried to be included in the political life by using media. However, in order to increase the active citizenship and political participation of young people on the way to creating a single European society, the structure and functioning of the EU should be taught to the youth first. In this context, our project will be based on an EU simulation and the European Commission, the Council of the EU and the EU parliament will be simulated from the union bodies. The issues to be covered in the project are migration, climate change and health, which are the most discussed issues in Europe according to Eurobarometer data. In the light of all this, our target is to increase the participation of young people living in member states in decision-making processes and political mechanisms. Special Objectives: 1. To make young people understand the EU structure and functioning. 2. To make young people adopt this structure by teaching the EU decision making process. 3. Raising awareness of young people on the importance of participation in decision-making processes and political mechanisms. 4. To increase the motivation of young people to take an active role in migration, climate change and health.
