Objectives

The objectives of the "Lens on the Land" project were adressing several key areas. The project organized a youth exchange in the village of Cirat in the end of September 2024, bringing together 24 participants from four different countries: Spain, Portugal, Germany, and Latvia. It fostered collaboration by involving four partner organizations in a partnership focused on addressing rural life and the challenges of depopulation. A central goal of the project was to engage the local community of Alto Mijares, including cultural associations, the tourism board, and village councils, ensuring their active involvement through the creation of audiovisual content. The project reflected on the challenges of rural depopulation, encouraging the sharing of sustainable strategies to tackle these issues. Additionally, participants worked together to create audiovisual content addressing sustainability and rural depopulation. The result of it wiill be showcased at the Cirat Short Film Festival in summer 2025 and shared more broadly in local communities and festivals abroad. The project also emphasized promoting active citizenship among young people while fostering a sense of European identity. It empowered participants by equipping them with creative, leadership, teamwork, and technical skills, particularly in audiovisual production and filmmaking. Sustainability and inclusion were core to the initiative, as it promoted the resilience of rural communities, fostered tolerance, and encouraged social inclusion and diversity. Through its design and activities, the project facilitated meaningful discussions on rural challenges and explored creative solutions while actively involving local communities. The dissemination of outcomes will extend the project’s impact to both local and international audiences. By building strong networks among the participants and partner organizations, the project inspired and supported further initiatives in rural development.
