The Mediterranean diet is recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. This balanced lifestyle encompasses everything from food production to how it is prepared and consumed, promoting the act of eating together as a cornerstone of cultural identity in Mediterranean countries. In addition to being a cultural heritage, it has been demonstrated that the Mediterranean diet, combined with regular physical exercise, has numerous health benefits, including cardiovascular and digestive health, obesity and diabetes prevention, and inflammation reduction. The Mediterranean diet also promotes sustainable development by encouraging the consumption of fresh and local foods, thus reducing the environmental impact of food transportation and packaging. Despite all the positive aspects surrounding the Mediterranean diet, organizations involved in "Tastes of the Mediterranean: Nutrition, Sustainability, and Active Youth" have identified various needs that will be addressed through the project. Among these needs are a lack of nutritional awareness, unhealthy eating habits, environmental challenges such as food waste, the need to train youth workers in health and sustainability topics, and the promotion of international cooperation to share experiences and best practices among Mediterranean professionals working with young people. The mobility project for youth workers that we propose is within the framework of the Erasmus + Program and its objectives are aligned with the European Youth Goals, especially those related to health and sustainability. The main objective of "Tastes of the Mediterranean: Nutrition, Sustainability, and Active Youth" is to promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle through awareness of the benefits of the Mediterranean diet, regular physical activity, reducing food waste, and adopting sustainable cooking practices. The project aims to empower participants to become advocates for personal well-being and sustainability in their own lives, in their professional work with young people, and in their communities. The specific objectives of the project are as follows: 1. Foster knowledge about the health and well-being benefits of the Mediterranean diet. 2. Promote a healthy lifestyle through a combination of balanced nutrition and physical activity. 3. Raise awareness among participants about the importance of reducing food waste and adopting sustainable cooking practices. 4. Train participants with practical knowledge about selecting fresh foods, nutritious ingredients, and preparing balanced meals inspired by the Mediterranean diet. 5. Strengthen intercultural understanding and cooperation among organizations, youth workers, and young people from various countries.
