Technology addiction occurs when an individual develops an excessive level of dependence on the internet through digital devices and has difficulty controlling this situation. It usually manifests itself with the increase in time spent on digital platforms such as online games, social media, watching videos, and online shopping. This addiction can cause a person to neglect important responsibilities in their daily lives, decrease work or school performance, and damage their social relationships. In addition, physical health problems can develop due to long-term screen use. Technology addiction is generally associated with psychological and social factors, and professional support may be required to overcome this problem. The underlying causes of technology addiction include psychological, social, environmental, biological, personal, familial, and cultural elements. It is necessary to understand these factors and to guide individuals, families, and societies in preventing and managing technology addiction. According to research conducted in this sense, there was a significant increase in social media use between 2015 and 2016. In 2016, the number of internet users increased by 10% compared to the previous year, reaching 354 million, while the number of active social media users increased by 21% to 482 million. By 2022, there was a 5% increase in the number of individuals using mobile devices, while this increase in mobile social media users increased to 30%. These increases have also paved the way for new problems to emerge. Technology addiction rates, especially in relation to social media and internet use, have increased in recent years. In 2023, approximately 50% of young people in the US reported being online “almost constantly,” a significant increase compared to previous years. With platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram dominating daily use among young people, this trend is understood to continue in 2024. Approximately 33% of young people reported using at least one social media platform almost constantly. Globally, young generations, especially Generation Y and Generation Z, will be among those most affected in 2024. This increase is due to the increasing integration of social media into daily life. It is becoming a serious concern for mental health professionals who realize the addictive nature of these platforms. Our aim in implementing our project is to raise awareness of technology addiction and to highlight the effects of this problem on individuals and society. Technology addiction has become a rapidly spreading problem especially among young people and causes negative effects on social relationships, psychological health and cultural interaction. In this context, our project has contributed to individuals learning how to protect themselves against this addiction by providing information about different types of technology addiction and has encouraged social communication. Our Achieved Goals are as follows: *We have contributed to raising awareness about both technology addiction and the effects of psychological disorders such as Hikikomori. *We have encouraged youth workers to get to know different countries and cultures by increasing cultural communication. *We have contributed to making more people aware of these opportunities by introducing the Erasmus Plus program. *Support was provided to youth workers to develop their foreign language skills and reveal their creative talents. *Within the scope of our project, attention was drawn to creating awareness for individuals with limited opportunities by emphasizing equal opportunities. In line with these goals, in addition to creating awareness about technology addiction, contributions were made to both the personal and social development of youth workers.
