The RE-YOUTH project aimed to address the complex and multifaceted challenges faced by young people in Europe, particularly in the context of mental health, social well-being, and community resilience. The main objective was to empower youth workers and professionals by providing them with tools and methodologies to better support young people in navigating personal, interpersonal, and group conflicts in a rapidly changing and often uncertain world. The project was driven by a recognition of the profound mental health challenges facing European youth, exacerbated by economic, health, and social crises, including the ongoing effects of climate change and societal instability. These conditions have significantly impacted the mental and emotional well-being of young people, contributing to increased rates of anxiety, depression, and other related issues. RE-YOUTH sought to explore these emotional landscapes, understand how these factors influence youth self-perception and interpersonal dynamics, and ultimately, foster resilience and well-being at both personal and community levels. RE-YOUTH's specific objectives included creating a supportive environment where participants could openly discuss their experiences with mental health and the challenges faced by youth today. This dialogue was designed to empower participants by sharing emotional and conflict management tools applicable at personal, group, and community levels. The project also aimed to restore enthusiasm and life aspirations among youth workers, rekindling a sense of purpose and collective drive. Another crucial objective was to build personal and communal resilience by equipping participants with emotional management techniques that foster collaboration, mutual support, and solidarity. Furthermore, RE-YOUTH facilitated an exchange of experiences and resources among youth workers and advocates from southern European countries, thereby enhancing their capacity for communal engagement and collaboration. The project aimed to identify and explore opportunities for systemic change, aspiring towards a future that is more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable. By disseminating innovative methodologies, RE-YOUTH hoped to influence the broader conversation around youth mental health and the relationships between young people and their communities, particularly in an era marked by increasing mental health challenges.
