The Circus for Change project was implemented with the aim of using social circus as an effective tool for youth work, especially in the field of social inclusion. Through this project, we provided youth workers with the opportunity to learn and apply social circus methodologies in their communities, in order to enhance group cohesion, the psychosocial development of young people at risk of exclusion, and the promotion of a more inclusive and tolerant European citizenship. The initiative arose from our previous experience incorporating circus activities into youth and social intervention programs, which proved to be powerful tools for fostering the development of social and emotional skills, as well as self-esteem, creativity, and teamwork among young people. One of the main objectives of Circus for Change was to promote the social inclusion of vulnerable youth, including migrants, minorities, and people with disabilities, by integrating circus practices into the daily work of educators and youth workers. Additionally, we facilitated a space for exchange and learning between professionals with experience in social circus and those focused on social inclusion, fostering the development of new skills and tools applicable to their everyday work. This approach allowed participants not only to acquire new circus skills but also to share best practices on how to address the challenges of social inclusion in their local contexts, contributing to a more equitable and supportive society. Furthermore, the project also aimed to promote the values of solidarity, human rights, and active participation within the framework of European citizenship. Social circus, with its inclusive approach and its ability to connect people from different backgrounds, proved to be an ideal vehicle to reinforce these values. Through workshops and practical activities, youth workers implemented methodologies that encouraged the active participation of young people in their communities, fostering a culture of mutual respect, cooperation, and empathy. In this way, Circus for Change became a platform not only for learning but also for creating bonds between diverse communities, strengthening social cohesion and offering vulnerable young people new opportunities for personal and community development.
