Objectives

The objective of this networking seminar was to bring together organizations that directly involve young people with visual impairments from different countries in a space that allowed them to meet and share their ways of working. This activity offered the project's partner organizations the opportunity to share tools and promote cooperation among themselves, offering them the opportunity to create new contacts and networks, developing common projects, and fostering quality partnerships with an equitable approach to strategic and long-term cooperation. This approach raises awareness of specific shared needs or challenges, as well as the added value of this cooperation. Many of the partner organizations encounter obstacles and challenges in the access and active participation of their young users in society. In many cases, these young users experience double oppression based on their diversity (economic, social, etc.), which often intersects with other obstacles and factors of discrimination that prevent them from accessing many opportunities on equal terms with others. We believe it is necessary to bring inequalities, fears, and barriers to the table in order to work together toward non-discrimination and the empowerment and autonomy of young people with visual impairments when traveling abroad or acquiring new tools and learning opportunities. Furthermore, this seminar brought to the attention of various organizations the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programs. This will enable organizations to access more resources and funding, if necessary, to develop their joint projects. This will increase the number and quality of European projects in which young people with visual impairments directly participate. These projects can serve to develop new skills and learning opportunities for these young people, which can help them, among other things, increase their employment prospects. For all these reasons, the main objective of this networking seminar was to find partner organizations and promote new collaborations and international mobility projects focused on young people with visual impairments, supporting the development of their skills and the value of non-formal learning. This activity had the following SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: • To identify and highlight the structural inequalities and challenges that organizations encounter when working with their youth and to increase knowledge about the inclusion of young people with visual impairments. • To exchange best practices on how non-formal education and international mobility can impact personal lives, for example, the employability of inclusion groups. • To provide solutions for different forms of work through the creation of networks between strong and efficient organizations for the implementation of future cooperation projects among participants. • To obtain tools on how to stimulate the learning process of young people and how to support the development of their skills, sharing best practices among partner organizations. • To promote diversity in all its manifestations as a valuable source of learning. • Promote Erasmus+ programmes: Youth and European Solidarity Corps (ESC), as a tool to work with young people with fewer opportunities, reducing barriers to participation and travel abroad (Experienced Erasmus beneficiaries will share their knowledge with organizations with little or no experience in the program, providing them with advice, mentoring or other support).
