Objectives

With the Origo project, we wanted to bring young people closer to the reality of the Sahrawi people, highlighting the experiences of refugees and stateless persons through participatory methodologies of collective artistic creation. Our main objective was to strengthen youth participation in relevant social and political issues, offering tools that foster critical expression, creativity, solidarity, and a culture of peace from an ecofeminist, decolonial, and anti-racist perspective. Through educational (Sapere) and creative (Creare) spaces, we sought to: Promote eco-social values among young people, such as diversity, tolerance, respect, and anti-racism. Facilitate understanding of concepts such as statelessness, refuge, forced mobility, and the plundering of natural resources, using accessible artistic languages. To promote youth activism and democratic participation, especially among young people with fewer opportunities. To connect young people from different backgrounds to foster inclusive coexistence and create mutual support networks. To raise awareness of the historical link between Spain and Western Sahara and disseminate existing tools for solidarity between the two peoples. In short, with Origo we wanted to create a more critical, empathetic, and active youth community, capable of constructing an alternative narrative about refugees and stateless people, and communicating it creatively through an awareness campaign aimed at their peers. The overall objective of the Origo project was to encourage active youth participation in issues related to human rights, refuge, and statelessness, with a central focus on the reality of the Sahrawi people. Through creative and collaborative processes, the project sought to empower young people—especially those with fewer opportunities, such as migrants, refugees, and stateless persons—to express themselves, reflect, and take action on the conflicts affecting their communities and the world. The specific objectives of the project were: - To promote eco-social values among young people, such as diversity, tolerance, respect, anti-racism, and care for the environment. - To raise awareness of the effects of colonialism and current forms of neocolonialism, especially in the case of Western Sahara. - To promote critical thinking and collective creativity as tools for social transformation. - To encourage democratic youth participation and involvement in processes of social change. - To strengthen inclusive coexistence among young people from diverse backgrounds, building supportive community networks. - To give visibility to stateless persons and refugees, especially those with functional diversity. - To use art as a means of expression, awareness-raising, and dialogue, favoring accessible and creative alternative channels of communication. - Offer models of participation based on community culture and non-formal education. - Bring young people closer to the values and opportunities of the Erasmus+ program and the European Solidarity Corps. - Raise awareness of legal concepts of international protection, such as asylum, refuge, and statelessness.
