Objectives

Dialogue for Inclusion is a continuity project of the El Cerezo Association (Villena) within the framework of the European Dialogue with Youth, whose main theme revolves around Youth Goal 3 ‘inclusive societies’. The project had different phases aimed mainly at making youth-related problems visible and their possible approach. In the light of the above, the main objectives of the project were the following: 1. To include young people at risk of exclusion in the decision making processes. 2. To make visible the role played by the entities that work for their social inclusion. 3. To generate proposals and reports to be sent to local, regional, national and supranational administrations. 4. To promote spaces of sorority, care and peer learning, as well as training on the topics proposed in the project. This project started in 2022 as a result of one of its main objectives, to work for and with young people at risk of social exclusion. The development of the activities that have been carried out during these seven months, have been a continuation of the previous project funded by Erasmus and whose impact is intended to continue in subsequent years. The young people of the Day Centre for Social and Labour Insertion have actively participated, together with other young volunteers of the Association, with the support of the social services of the localities of the upper and middle Vinalopó and the IES of these localities. Thus establishing a collaborative programme whose actions revolve around young people at risk of social exclusion, with the collaboration of other resources, placing these young people in the protagonists, both in the development and in the end of the project, it manages to increase the empowerment of the participants of the project and a learning process of all those involved that would not be possible to achieve in the daily activities within the Day Centre. It is also a project that fights against social stigmas, focusing at this moment on an issue that affects the vast majority of young people, bullying and its interrelation with mental health. A project that makes sense when we find that according to a report by the Ministry of Education, 9.53% of primary school students report having suffered bullying and 9.2% cyberbullying, and 80% of adolescents and young people who have passed through the Day Centre, claim to have been victims or bullies during their academic training. We have managed to create dialogue, reflections and proposals in each of the project's activities. During the talks to the IES, two cases of bullying came to light, and many proposals were collected, which the young people themselves were able to transfer to the decision-makers, in the two events held during these months. In addition, the involvement of public figures and referents such as ‘El Langui’ or Vanesa Romero, who shared their experiences, was achieved. A dialogue, reflections and proposals have been generated in each of the project activities. During the talks with the IES, two cases of bullying were identified, and a number of proposals were formulated. These were subsequently presented to the decision-makers at two events held during the course of the project. Furthermore, the involvement of public figures and referents, including El Langui and Vanesa Romero, who shared their personal experiences of bullying and how they managed to overcome this challenging period in their lives, was secured. It was always borne in mind that all activities had to be conducted through non-formal education techniques of a playful, pedagogical nature and with a strong degree of involvement by all participants and decision-makers. This was done in order to achieve visibility of the problem that we have to solve, generate spaces for reflection and implement tools for its eradication. The Dialogue for Inclusion project unites young people at risk of exclusion with volunteers from the Association and creators of content on education in social media, including Juan Berbegal (@juaneducación) and Laura (@curiosetea). Another key objective is to facilitate encounters between young people from diverse backgrounds, including age, culture, ethnicity, social class, and geographical location. These interactions, which may not have occurred otherwise, are designed to promote active citizenship and contribute to the creation of a more just and prosperous world. Conversely, it is challenging for a young person at risk of exclusion to engage in social activities or to engage in dialogue with a decision-maker. This project's primary objective is to provide opportunities for these young people, who often have limited access to opportunities, particularly in comparison to their counterparts with more resources. This project represents a crucial step towards a society where opportunities are accessible to all.
