We want to gather the French and Romanian young people in Cantal to pass on as much knowledge and skills as possible, on various themes linked to culture and traditions, such as history, music, language, nature, food, etc. With the event we will organise, we want to make the Maramures County known by locals from Cantal, bring together a lot of people with really different backgrounds, and raise awareness about European mobility projects to find some other young people who could take over and keep this project alive. Implementing this project is also an opportunity for the Cantal County. It will allow us to take part in revitalising the region. O1. Creating the right type of environment for 20 youngsters for intercultural learning about Romanian and French typical local/rural traditions and history by experiencing mixed activities, for 7 days in August 2024, in the region of Cantal, France. O2. Creating a bridge, supported and designed by the efforts of two groups of young people from France (Cantal Department) and Romania (Maramures County) in order to facilitate and promote collaboration in the youth field and the promotion of EU mobilities in both regions of the partner countries. O3. Fostering connections between locals (French) and participants during the visiting and workshop parts of the mobility in order to exchange knowledge and practices (intergenerational learning, promotions of local crafts) From the perspective of youth work, the first objective is achieved through peer-to-peer (among youngsters themselves) practices and facilitation. By using non-formal and informal learning practises, the participants will become initiators of the learning process. They will bring their own points of view and styles, personal preferences and local knowledge, personal experiences and everyone will be encouraged to share their opinion and design activities/implement methods. For the second objective, the creation, development and implementation of the project will promote international mobility, thus offering a chance and opportunity for future involvement and participants of young people in the group. It will encourage them to join other types of mobilities and will offer an alternative to their educational and career path. In the opinion of the youngsters involved, young people today live in a more and more digital and online environment that does not permit them to experience a hands-on approach to local crafts, food manufacturing/processing, folklore and rural arts. The project proposed offers the opportunity to address this topic and at the same time we believe that rural/isolated areas (like Maramures and Cantal) are at the risk of marginalization and in time can become disconnected from the newer topics. We will support the promotion of rural areas and traditional crafts making them accessible to a wider audience (national/international). By using recordings, photos, social media and blogging we hope to inspire similar actions in the future. We want to use this project, as the one that happened in August 2023 in Romania, as an example of how youngsters can use EU opportunities to find out more about the history, traditions and culture of other member countries, in particular isolated, more rural areas, that are most often overlooked when deciding locations for mobilities/touristic routes. We want these young people to be able to benefit from the programs available to them, while at the same time being guided and oriented. When we set up the project as a global whole, our initial focus was on "by and for the young", which we feel is now taking on a more concrete form thanks to this type of project, which we are in a position to initiate and support.
