Objectives

For the last 6 years, the ‘Je Pars à Zart’ association and the ‘Network For Children rights’ association have been organising an international exchange around a powerful theme, using the artistic medium of theatre. This year, the theme of ‘school bullying’ was chosen following feedback and wishes expressed by the young people during the last exchange. The objectives were to: combat bullying at school, with a sub-theme based on the fight against discrimination and racism. In the stories In the stories told, particularly by the young Greek participants, the fact that they came from another country was one of the reasons why they were harassed. Through weekly theatre workshops and popular education workshops held throughout the year, such as writing workshops, mutual interviews, moving debates, media education workshops and the creation of a play, we are going to get young people to ask questions about bullying at school. What forms does it take? what causes it? what are the consequences? Through this experience we were able to work on raising awareness of bullying, the different forms of bullying (at school, online, etc.) and their impact. Through theatrical activities, we were able to develop personal and social skills such as communication, empathy and conflict management. This theme, added to the artistic support, enabled us to exceed our objectives or to highlight other objectives that we believe are implied in the fact of organising this exchange, such as Encouraging cultural exchanges between participants from different countries to enrich their understanding of social issues. Creating spaces for teenagers to express themselves freely about their experiences and concerns relating to bullying, mobilising young people and encouraging them to become ‘ambassadors’ against bullying in their schools and communities. Encouraging collaboration between teenagers from different countries through joint projects, with an emphasis on theatre as a tool for collective expression. The feedback work helped to raise awareness of this topical issue in our 2 countries among our participants, our partners and our respective organisations.
