Objectives

The project was designed to achieve several specific objectives, both at the level of the young participants and in the broader context of youth work. Here are the main objectives we aimed to achieve by implementing this project: 1. Promote youth empowerment through sports: One of the key objectives of the project is to demonstrate sports as a powerful tool for youth empowerment, offering opportunities for young people to take initiatives, develop leadership skills, and build their self-confidence through collective and playful activities. We wanted participants to feel capable of actively engaging and making decisions within their groups. 2. Promote an inclusive and humanistic vision of sport: In line with Olympic values, this project aims to show that sports are not just about performance but should also serve as a tool for socialization, tolerance, and openness. We wanted the youth to view sports as a means of social integration and as a space where diversity is celebrated. By bringing together young people from different cultures, we sought to emphasize respect, solidarity, and mutual understanding. 3. Encourage intercultural exchange and openness to new cultures: By bringing together young people from different countries (France, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Romania), the objective was to foster cultural exchange, allow participants to discover other perspectives, and broaden their horizons. This also helped raise awareness among the youth about common issues at the European level while promoting inclusion. 4. Encourage youth engagement in associations and volunteering: Another key objective was to encourage young people to get involved in collective and voluntary actions, by highlighting the participatory aspect of the project. We wanted the youth to recognize the importance of civic and associative engagement, and to empower them to become change-makers in their own communities. 5. Overcome barriers to sports participation: The project also aimed to offer the youth a week dedicated to practicing sports while overcoming common barriers such as lack of time, motivation, or access to sports opportunities. By providing an accessible and non-discriminatory environment, we wanted to give them the chance to discover or rediscover the benefits of sports in a positive setting. 6. Promote human and civic values through sport: Beyond the physical and technical aspects of sports, the project aimed to convey values such as teamwork, cooperation, and respect for others. By highlighting the values of the sport in the context of the 2024 Olympic Games, we sought to communicate messages of tolerance, respect, and friendship, in connection with civic and social engagement. Link to Youth Work: This project fits perfectly within the framework of youth work because it uses sport as an educational tool to encourage inclusion, active participation, and personal development. Youth work often involves creating environments where young people can acquire social, civic, and intercultural skills, which is exactly what we aimed to achieve through this project. The project also emphasizes collective responsibility among participants, their involvement in activities and decision-making, and their participation in concrete actions, reflecting the non-formal education approach in youth work.
