Objectives

The action presented here is part of the “Jeunes des 2 rives” (J2R) program, led by Solidarité Laïque. J2R is a project for education on citizenship and international solidarity aimed at supporting youth from the Euro-Mediterranean region in their journey towards active citizenship, particularly those most exposed to social and territorial inequalities. These inequalities generate numerous social divides, affecting young people's access to rights, citizenship, and employment. The resulting impacts give rise to frustrations that can lead to civic disengagement, distrust of institutions, and the development of risky behaviors such as social withdrawal, violent fundamentalism, self-harm, and violence towards others. To achieve this objective, the program is structured around three main axes: (1) Strengthening the capacities of youth educators from different countries to support and guide solidarity engagement dynamics, both locally and internationally, with young people ; (2) Supporting and promoting youth citizenship engagement projects at the national and international levels in the different countries involved ; (3) Producing knowledge and insights on the processes of building local and global citizenship among youth and disseminating the lessons learned. The countries involved in the J2R program are France, Morocco, Tunisia, and Albania. Solidarité Laïque coordinates the transnational dynamic as well as the one specific to France. The action focused on the organization of a transnational seminar bringing together youth educators from France, Morocco, Tunisia, and Albania, with the following objectives: General Objective: Strengthen the capacities of youth workers to support and promote the construction of Euro-Mediterranean citizenship among young people most exposed to socio-economic, cultural, and territorial inequalities. Specific Objectives: - Enhance the capacities of youth educators to lead educational activities on local and global citizenship within an intercultural framework. - Support youth educators in initiating and sustaining youth solidarity initiatives within the Euro-Mediterranean space.
