We firmly believe in the essential role of young people in resolving the climate crisis and in building a socially equitable intergenerational transition, where no one is left behind. In the face of growing environmental challenges, it is imperative for Le Valdocco to strengthen its commitment by proposing mobilizing and meaningful initiatives, both locally and internationally. GENMATE is structured around three main objectives: - Raising awareness and building the capacities of young people in environmental conservation and the fight against the climate crisis. - Promoting international cooperation and knowledge-sharing between young people from different backgrounds and geographical contexts. - Encouraging youth participation in environmental and climate decision-making processes. These objectives have led to a number of concrete results: - Mobilization and structuring of youth participation within Valdocco establishments, fostering intra-associative cooperation and better inter-territorial cohesion. - Bridging the gap between European institutions and young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods, by involving them in the debate on climate and environmental issues. - Strengthening young people's education on climate issues, by offering them constructive learning and exchange opportunities. - Encouraging young people to get involved at different levels (local, national, European) by giving them the means and tools to understand, analyze and act on ecological challenges. In setting up this project, we wanted to offer the young people accompanied by Le Valdocco a unique opportunity to get out of their usual environment, so that they could meet, exchange views on their respective realities and explore other cultural contexts. This openness was decisive in helping them develop a critical eye and a better understanding of climate and environmental issues. GENMATE enabled 50 young people aged 14 to 18 to take part in European and national mobility programs. In addition, more than 100 young people were made aware of European citizenship through events such as the Fête de l'Europe, as well as through informal channels (word-of-mouth, discussions in schools, etc.).
