Objectives

The aim of the De la Terre à l'Assiette (From Earth to Plate) project is to raise awareness and get a group of young people involved in environmental issues in a sustainable way, by looking at sustainable food, waste management and agricultural production (respect for seasonality, conventional/organic, urban market gardening, traditional farming). It is particularly aimed at young people with fewer opportunities, giving them the means to explore, understand and pass on this theme through non-formal education. It's within this framework that the young people have been learning and informing themselves through various meetings with professionals from the world of agriculture, through awareness-raising workshops organised with our local partners and through the collective creation of a fun educational tool: the escape game From the Earth to the Plate. Thanks to our experience of working with young people during our events, and to the testimonies of the volunteers we welcome into our association, we understood the need for young people to learn more about this issue and to become active players in civil society. Our aim was to raise young people's awareness of the impact of our consumption patterns, by equipping them in a practical and fun way to become relays and ambassadors for sustainable food. To make them aware of the impact of each consumer's choices on the environment, as well as the impact of ecological management on a wider scale. By co-creating the game, they were able to express themselves, learn, build and pass on to other young people. The project also provided an opportunity for collective reflection on an international version of the tool, in conjunction with foreign partners. This is an issue of vital importance today. Sustainable development and food education are key issues for our society, now and in the future. That's why we've chosen to work on this theme for several years, to raise awareness among young people not only of the environmental aspect and respect for the environment, but also of the various aspects of citizenship, health, culture and heritage. For Bokra Sawa, setting up this project was a response to the needs of young people: to give them the power to limit climate change and enable them to discover and act with new keys to citizenship, or at least to give them keys to understanding environmental issues. To give them the power to know.
