Our main objective was to foster democratic participation among young people through filmmaking and storytelling. Specifically, we aimed to: • Increase awareness of democratic values and active citizenship. • Equip young people with media literacy and filmmaking skills. • Empower participants to share their perspectives on democracy across borders. • Strengthen cross-cultural cooperation between Lithuania, Czechia, and France. • Produce and disseminate youth-led films that raise awareness and inspire civic action
We applied for this project to address the need for more creative and accessible ways for young people to engage with democracy. Many young people feel disconnected from civic processes and lack the tools to express their voices in meaningful ways. Filmmaking and storytelling can be expensive and often reserved for students in specialized programs. By creating an inclusive project, we wanted to give young people—especially beginners and non-students—the chance to learn media skills and use them to discuss democratic values, civic participation, and youth rights.
