The project aimed to strengthen critical thinking skills among young migrants and equip youth workers with effective tools to support them. Our main objective was to help migrants analyse information, identify biases, and make informed decisions, improving their autonomy, integration, and participation in their communities. We also wanted youth workers to gain practical methods and non-formal education techniques that they could apply in their daily work, creating more inclusive and supportive learning environments. Another objective was to collect and share good practices from France, Spain, Poland and Türkiye, creating accessible resources, such as the Good Practice Manual and interactive materials, that could be used long after the project ended. Overall, the project sought to empower young migrants, improve the quality of youth work, foster intercultural understanding, and strengthen resilience against misinformation, contributing to more cohesive and inclusive societies.
The project Critical-Thinking Skills for Young Migrants was created to address a shared need identified in all partner countries: young migrants often face social and economic barriers, limited access to reliable information, and exposure to misinformation, which affects their integration and autonomy. Many youth workers also lacked adapted tools to teach critical thinking and media literacy through non-formal education. We applied for this project to empower young migrants with practical analytical skills that help them evaluate information, recognise biases, and make informed decisions in their daily lives. At the same time, the project aimed to strengthen the capacity of youth workers by providing methods, activities and resources they could use in their local communities. Because partners in France, Spain, Poland and Türkiye work with different migrant groups but face similar challenges, a transnational approach was needed. The project responded directly to Erasmus+ priorities on inclusion, participation and quality youth work by promoting empowerment, integration and equal access to learning opportunities for young migrants.
