Objectives

The main aim of this project was to raise young people's awareness of the richness and diversity of Europe's cultural heritage, particularly through folk dances. We wanted to offer young people, especially those from less privileged backgrounds, the opportunity to discover and participate in cultural activities, in order to strengthen their link with Europe and its traditions. Another key objective was to strengthen youth workers' skills in transmitting cultural heritage, by providing them with tools to integrate these practices into their activities. Finally, we wanted to create an intercultural learning environment where young people could interact, exchange and share experiences while learning to value and preserve European cultural traditions.

Background

We applied for this project in response to an important need to raise young people's awareness of cultural diversity and European heritage. In particular, we found that many young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, had no opportunities to discover or get involved in European cultural traditions, such as folk dances, which are a fundamental part of intangible heritage. This project aimed to fill this gap by creating learning and exchange spaces where young people could discover, practice and appreciate these traditions. It also responded to a need for support for youth workers, to help them better integrate European culture and heritage into their educational activities, thus creating a stronger link between young people and their common cultural heritage.
