Objectives

The Rue’Elles 2.0 project aimed to strengthen young people's commitment to promoting gender equality and European citizenship through creativity and cooperation. Its objectives were multiple and complementary. - Firstly, to connect and discover partner organisations and young participants who share an interest in women's rights and equality - Secondly, to continue collecting photos of streets named after women across Europe, in order to enrich the visual and historical archives created as part of the first Rue Elles project - Thirdly, to exchange best practices between partners in the field of youth work and gender equality education - Fourthly, to co-create innovative educational material based on these photos, for use in schools and youth centres - Fifthly, to enable Odyssee and its partners to gain experience with the Erasmus+ programme and strengthen their capacities in international project management - Finally, to lay the foundations for future Erasmus+ cooperation projects promoting inclusion, gender equality and intercultural dialogue

Background

The Rue’Elles 2.0 project was launched to improve the visibility of women's contributions to European history and society. It builds on the first Rue Elles initiative, which brought together more than 200 photos of streets named after women across Europe, resulting in an exhibition and an e-book that had a strong local impact. However, the team recognised the need to go further by creating educational tools to promote gender equality in schools and youth centres. Thanks to the project, young people from France, Italy, Spain, Romania and Serbia continued this collective work, making it more participatory, inclusive and educational. The project addressed key needs identified among young people and socio-educational facilitators from partner organisations: gender equality education, empowerment and civic engagement, intercultural exchange and cooperation, and strengthening new organisations and young leaders. The project aimed to raise awareness of women's history in Europe, develop creative educational resources for working with young people, and promote active citizenship, inclusion and equality.
