By implementing this project, we wanted to achieve following: - To give a contribution to raising awareness about sexism and sexist hate speech, their combating and reducing - To point out and promote counter and alternative narratives as simple and effective tool for youth organizations to involve and support young people in combating sexism - To provide professional training and bust capacities of partner organisations in their mission to contribute to reducing sexism and sexist hate speech - Raise the awareness of online communities about sexism and sexist hate speech by producing and sharing project outputs - Make NoHateMakers network stronger and bigger This project has been developed based on the need of equipping more people who can support young people in their local communities to challenge sexism and to make specific actions against it while applying non-violent, human rights friendly approach. Through this training we contributed to empowering 32 youth workers from 8 countries who are now taking actions through their daily work and in that way, we are all giving contribution to challenging and reducing sexism and sexist hate speech. During the project, participants were led through each step of creating conter and alternative narratives and they realised that it is very easy and fun way. They also said later that young people in their organizations like it since it leaves a lot of space for creativity and actual activity/campaign can have different shape every time although same steps are being followed. This project and especially its training was important for all organizations and youth workers involved since all of them identified sexism as significant problem and wanted to develop their capacities to tackle it and act against it. Each organization now has 4 trained youth workers who can implement gained knowledge and competences in daily work. This also means quality support for young people who want to be involved and who need support in developing and implementing activities which will raise the awareness about sexism and sexist hate speech and do something to confront them and reduce them. During and after the project visibility and dissemination were done online where outputs and results were presented and in that way we managed to reach young people online (and everyone else). Videos, memes and other things which were produced as result of groups work during the training had a clear message – as planned and wanted, we managed to raise the awareness about growing issue of sexism and sexist hate speech and send a clear message that we are against it. Finally, with this project we also made NoHateMakers network stronger by enhancing its capacities to act against human rights violations and to advocate for more respect in Europe. The objectives of this project were: - To enhance understanding of sexism and sexist hate speech, online and offline - To raise the awareness of participants and wider audience through sharing counter and alternative narratives that anyone can be a victim of sexism, not only women - To support development of competences of youth work professionals in the field of human rights protection, specifically by using counter and alternative narratives as a tool to confront sexist hate speech - To provide step-by-step professional guidance and support in understanding how to develop effective counter and alternative narratives - To provide space and time for exchange of experiences, tools and methods among the participants with the aim of raising the level of quality of youth work
