Objectives

Through this project, we aimed to explore how storytelling shapes our understanding of the world and how historical narratives have often been influenced by gender biases. By reflecting on the voices that have shaped our past and present, we wanted to provide youth workers—who play a key role in shaping the perspectives of younger generations—with the tools to recognize and amplify diverse female voices in storytelling. During the mobility, we focused on how activism can serve as a catalyst for social change, particularly by highlighting female figures from different backgrounds, such as migrant women and those in situations of social exclusion. By doing so, we sought to equip youth workers with knowledge and tools to foster more inclusive narratives and ensure a broader representation of voices in their work with young people. The project was structured around two key pillars: a) Creating a space for reflection and dialogue, where participants could exchange knowledge about the role of women in shaping narratives, discuss the impact of the underrepresentation of female voices, and engage in intercultural dialogue that fostered critical thinking. b) Providing practical tools and skills to help youth workers integrate a gender perspective into their professional activities, ensuring that they become facilitators of a more equal and inclusive storytelling landscape. Throughout the program, we achieved several key objectives: - We introduced participants to significant female figures from the cultural narratives of different European countries. - We deepened awareness of the importance of storytelling from a gender perspective, particularly highlighting voices from marginalized groups. - We explored creative and digital storytelling techniques, helping participants develop skills they could apply in their work with young people. - We stimulated critical thinking and encouraged participants to recognize their own role in shaping narratives. - We examined how female storytelling serves as a form of activism and a tool for social change. - We worked with various media formats—social media, press, radio, and digital platforms—to showcase women’s voices in contemporary storytelling. - We developed practical resources for participants, enhancing their ability to create meaningful content with young people. As a tangible result, we successfully launched a social media campaign focused on ‘A Female Perspective.’ Participants collaborated in working groups to create content that highlighted different aspects of female storytelling. To unify the campaign, we collectively developed a series of videos that brought together all the shared materials and messages. By the end of the mobility, participants left with a deeper understanding of gender representation in storytelling and practical tools to integrate these perspectives into their work. The project not only strengthened their professional capacities but also contributed to a broader movement toward more inclusive and representative narratives in society.
