Objectives

The general goal of the project is to contribute to the monitoring of the implementation of the Youth Advisory Board Act and to improve the framework for the inclusion of young people in decision-making processes. This Law was adopted in 2007. and it is still the only legal act in Croatia, which specifically applies to young people. The purpose of passing this Act was to encourage local and regional government units to include young people in decision-making processes at the local and regional level, through the establishment of advisory bodies that will bring together young people from the community and serve to create better policies for young people. However, since the very beginning of the application of the Law, numerous problems have arisen in its implementation, which is why the Law has been amended and supplemented several times over the years, the last time in 2023. With this project, interested young people want to monitor how the adoption of amendments to the Act affected the work, that is, the establishment of youth councils at the local, regional and national level, because for the first time the Youth Advisory Board. Also, the project partners want to examine the alternatives of involving young people in decision-making processes and dialogue with decision-makers at the local and regional level, therefore, through the project, possible alternative forms of involving young people will be questioned and devised, which will ultimately be presented together with the findings of the consultation meetings on this matter. Therefore, the specific goals of this project are (1) to examine the impact of the new Act on the situation in the field through consultation meetings and (2) to design and present alternative models of youth involvement in decision-making.
