Objectives

In the last 50 years, the red kiosk K67 has been used for a variety of jobs, first in the whole of Europe, and later in the whole world. Kiosk K67 got a new function through the project. Symbolically through the project, more concretely in the K67xKVART activity, it was presented as a voting booth, but in reality it was a place where new generations (voters) were able to get information about political participation and EU institutions, established a dialogue (with each other and with decision makers) or gave recommendations (for decision makers). Although the total voter turnout in the elections for the European Parliament in 2019 was the highest in 25 years, and the age group that experienced the greatest increase in electoral participation are those under 25, insufficient information among young people about the European Union, institutions, the rule of law and in general insufficient political information remain a constant challenge. Despite the upward trend, the turnout of young voters (those between 16/18 and 24 and 25 and 30) is still below 50% on average. Also, according to the Youth Ideas Report, greater connection and constructive dialogue with decision-makers is an important need of young people. Young people are not only insufficiently informed about their rights and duties, but often have no sense of European values. In accordance with these needs, we had set the following objectives: Objective 1: Raising the awareness of young people about common European values and fundamental rights and contributing to the process of European integration, including the achievement of one or more EU goals for young people; - One of the ideas of this project was to inform young people about European values, institutions and elections with an emphasis on the European Parliament and the upcoming elections in 2024. This objective was targetted by the 10 Youth participation events without mobilities - K67 SCHOOL MEETINGS - during which we educated and informed min. 10 participants per each of the 10 schools from the North of Croatia that were involved in the project as associated partners. Objective 2: To provide young people with the opportunity to get involved and learn to participate in civil society by offering them ways to engage in everyday life, but also in democratic life, with the aim of significant civic, economic, social, cultural and political participation of young people from all backgrounds, with special reference to those with fewer opportunities; - In addition to receiving the knowledge and skills on the work of the EU and importance of voting, young people acquired skills and a package of knowledge for public advocacy, creating campaigns and participating in democratic processes in their community, and eventually at the level of the European Union. This was done throughout the Youth participation events with and without mobilities in activities 11, 12, 13. Young people contributed to achieving this objective by becoming ambassadors who actively communicated with other young people, promoted the goals of the project and Erasmus+ programme by creating campaigns and participated in creating recommendations that were presented to their peers and MEPs. Moreover, participants with fewer opportunities were particularly involved in the K67 x KVART activity in both preparing and implementing the programme of the activity and participating in it from all parts of Croatia. Objective 3: Bring together young people and decision-makers at local, regional, national and transnational levels and/or contribute to the EU youth dialogue. During the K67 x KVART event, young people and decision-makers gathered to conduct a constructive dialogue on EU issues, where young people were able to ask questions about the work of institutions, make suggestions about how they can get involved in political processes, and express their opinions and needs. Also, four young ambassadors were given an opportunity to present the recommendations made from the dialogue and the survey 120 young people took to the MEPs, and were able to see how the European institutions work in practice in the activity #12 - Visit to the European Parliament in Brussels and meeting with MEPs. Given that inclusion was one of the values of the project, people with fewer opportunities due to discrimination were included throughout the project in events with and without mobilities. Internal communication and groups were targetedd by the association as V.U.K. provides a safe space called "QP4" in its annual programme, where young LGBTIQ+ members meet discuss regarding challenges they face in everyday life.
