The idea for the project came from participants from Romania and Hungary who took part in a youth exchange programme together in 2022. The project was developed by the GYTIT and KÉK Association with the involvement of young people from Romania and Hungary. The aim was to stimulate active engagement of young people in raising awareness of democracy and passing on democratic values. The two-part youth exchange enabled young people to learn about the democratic functioning of their own and other countries, their decision-making mechanisms and their impact on society and individuals, thus stimulating youth participation. Throughout the project, participants explored the different aspects, dynamics and details of democratic decision-making processes in democracy and how this affects individuals and society. Together with the partners, these objectives were explored: - To increase young people's awareness and knowledge of democracy and European values and to promote their active participation in local, regional, national and international decision-making processes. - Support the creation and development of youth representation at local, regional and national level, recognising young people's right to participate and organise themselves, recognising recognised youth structures and involving them in the work of local, regional, national and European authorities. - Promoting common European values, fostering social inclusion, cultural understanding and community spirit
