Objectives

"HEARTFULNESS - self awareness tools in youth work" project aimed to address the growing need for youth to find authentic self-expression and self-awareness in modern society, where they often face emotional and mental health challenges. The overarching goal was to create a supportive environment for young people to thrive by equipping youth workers with tools for personal growth and community-building. Local communities play a pivotal role in shaping individuals, and the project focused on empowering youth workers to foster these nurturing environments. By focusing on self-care, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence, youth workers would become the “torch-carriers” of communities that promote mental well-being and holistic growth. This training course brought together 24 youth workers from 8 countries with extensive experience in non formal education for young people. The organizing team created an environment and framework where participants of the program could acquire mindfulness and self-awareness tools. The key objectives of the project were: To equip youth workers from Program and Partner countries with a toolbox of practices that facilitate self-awareness, self-reflection, and self-expression. These tools would help them support their target groups more effectively. To encourage participants to adopt environmentally conscious and healthy behaviors by using mindfulness and nature-based techniques. These practices would not only benefit their own well-being but also be adaptable in their professional roles working with youth. To enhance youth workers' understanding of the connection between body, mind, and emotions. This focus would provide them with practical tools to combat stress and improve emotional intelligence, which is crucial in youth work. To develop participants' skills in intercultural learning and non-violent communication. These competencies would help youth workers engage with diverse groups and foster mutual understanding in increasingly multicultural environments. To create a network of like-minded organizations and youth workers to encourage collaboration on future initiatives, focusing on self-awareness, emotional well-being, and non-violent communication.
