Objectives

The “Leading by Example” training course’s goal was to support youth workers in authenticity, empathetic leadership and self-expression, significantly contributing to youth workers’ and their organisations attractiveness in the eyes of young people. It aimed to equip youth workers with growth-mindset, positive attitude and a powerful skillset of using body to engage, empower and lead different communities of young people. Because of this project, youth workers will become more comfortable and confident in appearing in front of others and on camera, which in the 21th century is essential. The key objectives of the project were: To qualify youth workers in musical non-formal educational methods thus being able to hold music-related workshops (e.g. singing circle) by incorporating music as an extra element in the workshops they regularly hold. To become more comfortable with their voice and self-expression, hence they can engage more with their surrounding, and their community and to even reach young people outside their own circles To explore singing in education for youth engagement, especially in view of advancing civic participation and social engagement of young people through youth workers To promote instruments for learning and revitalizing international cooperation among youth organisations by being aware that music is a language that has no barriers. To exchange already existing good practices among youth workers To encourage multi-layered learning through activities that involve 1. Body & movement 2. Speaking & singing 3. Logical thinking & imagination To create a motivated community of youth workers, interested in combining classical training skills with musical elements and sound phonation as part of personal expression
