Objectives

The aim of the project was to promote a holistic understanding of sustainability, incorporating social, economic, and civic dimensions alongside environmental considerations. We sought to strengthen the mindset and competencies of young people and youth workers that support sustainable lifestyles, responsible decision-making, effective advocacy, and sustainable organizational practices. We aimed to develop innovative, practical educational tools that would enable youth workers to take sustainability education to a new level. To achieve this, the project focused on five interrelated thematic areas: communication, media, entrepreneurship and sustainable organizations, advocacy, and sustainable learning. A key objective was to improve the quality and innovation of youth work by creating new workshops, a structured training curriculum, and podcast-based learning resources. In line with the priorities of Erasmus+, the project aimed to contribute to raising environmental awareness, strengthening active citizenship, and supporting young people's initiative and entrepreneurial skills.

Background

Prior to the application, our partners and target groups clearly expressed the need to approach sustainability in a more holistic and modern way. Although the dialogue on environmental awareness has grown significantly over the past decade, our experience and consultations with our partners have confirmed that young people and youth workers increasingly need tools that link sustainability to social responsibility, organizational practices, civic engagement, and everyday decision-making. Our previous surveys among our long-term partners highlighted sustainability as a key priority area. In discussions with partners, we recognized the need to move beyond purely environmental approaches and promote a more integrated understanding of sustainability across different areas of life, including learning, work, entrepreneurship, and communication. The project responded to these needs by developing innovative, non-formal educational tools that align the priorities for youth competencies with the needs of the youth sector.
