Objectives

In implementing our project, we sought to reach seven main intended learning objectives. ILO1 - To provide a range of training materials which will support young people and youth workers to develop their civic, social and economic competences. ILO2 - To support partner organisations to develop their capacity to work with young people on the topic of civic, social and economic competences. ILO3 - To broaden the minds of young people and youth workers around Europe of civic duties during an EU Parliament Election Year. ILO4 - To provide young people with the opportunity of collaborating towards common goals. ILO5 - To empower migrants to collaborate with community members to support their integration. ILO6 - To change the mindset of young people towards becoming active citizens for their future. ILO7 - To provide migrants with opportunities for economic, social and civic development.

Background

In light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the Connect Project aimed to provide a suite of non-formal educational resources that would support the integration of Ukrainians living in Ireland and Bulgaria on a civic, social and economic level. By creating a series of WebQuests and offering coaching (job coaching, English classes, and life skills sessions), we enhanced the potential of Ukrainians living in our communities to further engage with services that are currently available. The project aimed to support partner organisations in rural and urban communities to share their knowledge and gain new knowledge to support their continued efforts working with Ukrainians. Connect also created a training programme for youth workers to support them to understand the challenges that are present when working across cultures, how values differ between individuals and the need for us to become more united. The programme raises awareness about democracy, organisations working to unite our communities and also supports trainers to learn more about the Europass CV.
