Objectives

Thanks to the active participation of young people and the guidance of the facilitators, "Gender Bender" was a learning experience capable of achieving the following objectives: Create a learning opportunity for young people. The program, which focused on the topic of gender equality, allowed participants to develop knowledge on the topic, enriching their skills in identifying discriminatory phenomena and equipping them with tools for managing and positively resolving conflicts rooted in inequality and social exclusion. Through dedicated activity sessions, the group of young people developed knowledge of information channels, strengthening their tools for orientation and consulting reliable websites and resources, and developing critical thinking and analytical skills. Encourage self-expression and strengthen self-esteem and the free expression of one's unique characteristics in a social context. The activities and informal moments strengthened the group's cohesion, which participated in the youth exchange with an "open-windows" attitude, meaning without judgment toward themselves and their peers. Dialogue on issues of gender, identity, and sexual orientation created the space to foster constructive discussion, based on expression and active listening to others. Furthermore, the young participants acquired appropriate thematic vocabulary to address gender issues with awareness. Transforming sexuality education into an accessible topic, free from taboos and social stereotypes. Laying the foundation for an open and dynamic discussion of sexuality (closely connected to the sphere of affectivity) fostered dialogue, fostered discussion, and demonstrated to young people that at different stages of development, peers' needs are similar and it is important to feel free to express themselves. A key theme was also consent, a necessary and indispensable condition for any interpersonal approach.
