Objectives

The project was born out of the need to promote strong environmental awareness among young people and to encourage concrete actions to reduce plastic pollution, with particular attention to the enhancement of the Lavia Stream and the natural resources present in the area. The initiative, carried out in collaboration between organizations from Italy, Poland, and Slovakia, developed within a non-formal education framework, aiming to foster a sense of environmental responsibility, cooperation skills, and a desire to be active citizens among participants. In line with the objectives of the Erasmus+ programs and Youth Exchanges, the project focused on several key pillars: 1. Awareness and Action Against Plastic Pollution - Reducing the use of single-use plastics and adopting sustainable practices in everyday life. - Training a new generation of "sustainability ambassadors" capable of spreading good practices within their communities, promoting environmental respect and the protection of biodiversity. 2. Enhancement of the Local Context and the Lavia Stream - Deepening knowledge of the natural and cultural resources of the Martignacco area, encouraging young people to feel actively involved in safeguarding these areas. - Developing environmental education centered on direct experience, through workshops and discussion moments where contact with nature provided a meaningful and participatory learning space. 3. Use of Youth Languages and Innovative Tools - Leveraging the potential of photography, social media, digital technologies, and art as expressive means to convey positive environmental messages. - Stimulating participants' creativity through workshops and artistic activities, encouraging the creation of awareness-raising content (photography, post creation, recycling art, etc.). 4. Personal Growth and Development of Cross-cutting Skills - Offering opportunities for non-formal and intercultural learning, enhancing skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and responsible use of technologies. - Promoting the acquisition of digital, artistic, and environmental skills useful for the personal and professional future of young people, with a view to lifelong learning. 5. Inclusion and Diversity - Creating an open and welcoming environment where young people from different cultures, ages, and backgrounds could collaborate in a climate of respect and sharing. - Strengthening cohesion and unity among young people of different nationalities, helping to overcome language barriers, stereotypes, and prejudices through direct contact and intercultural exchange. 6. European Dimension and International Cooperation - Strengthening the network among partner organizations from Italy, Poland, and Slovakia, starting a cooperation path that could continue even after the project’s conclusion. - Enhancing the European awareness of participants and the communities involved, highlighting how environmental protection and plastic reduction are global challenges requiring joint efforts. In summary, the main goal was to train a new generation of aware, active, and supportive young citizens, ready to become "ambassadors" of environmental protection within their communities, and capable of using contemporary youth languages (such as photography and digital media) to spread values of sustainability, inclusion, and social participation. The aim was to "move from words to deeds," equipping young people with the tools to become protagonists of change. The project sought to combine creativity and youth languages with the need to protect the environment so that participants could gain concrete knowledge, develop a critical and collaborative spirit, and, at the same time, feel part of a broader and more supportive community, both locally and at the European level.
