The Humanity in Motion: A Journey Through Human Rights (HuMotion) project was born from the need to address the growing problem of discrimination and intolerance in Europe, phenomena fueled by demographic changes, economic crises, poor governance practices, and the spread of hate speech. Specifically, the project focuses on the discrimination faced by vulnerable groups such as the Roma community, migrants, and the LGBTQ+ community, phenomena that are on the rise according to data from the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights and Human Rights Watch. The primary objective of HuMotion is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of human rights and democratic values as fundamental elements of civil coexistence in the European Union. The project aims to create a space for reflection and action, providing young people with useful tools to understand, deconstruct, and challenge stereotypes and prejudices spread through disinformation and hate speech. The specific objectives of the HuMotion project are: 1. Recognize and understand the dynamics of discrimination and intolerance against minority groups, analyzing the factors that contribute to their spread. 2. Promote awareness and ownership of fundamental rights and democratic values through non-formal education activities, interactive methodologies, and theatrical practices. 3. Stimulate local action and active participation by proposing concrete initiatives to combat intolerance in the participants' communities. Structure and methodology: The project involves 24 young people aged between 18 and 25 from four European countries: Italy, North Macedonia, and Germany, ensuring equal participation in terms of gender and social background. These young people include students, workers, and others with experience in Erasmus and non-European projects. HuMotion is structured into three blocks of activities, each corresponding to a specific objective: • Understanding discrimination and intolerance through digital tools and STEM skills, developing research skills and critical information analysis. • Experimenting with human rights and democratic values through non-formal education activities and theater techniques, fostering empathy and critical thinking. • Proposing concrete solutions to combat intolerance by developing local awareness-raising actions and promoting active citizenship. The project's activities are based on non-formal education methodologies, experiential learning, and collaborative work, with a particular focus on the intercultural dimension and participant empowerment. During the program, young people will participate in workshops, discussions, simulations, and visits to symbolic sites of historical memory and multicultural coexistence. Impact and Expected Results: The project aims to have a significant impact on several levels: • For participants: development of transversal skills such as critical thinking, intercultural communication, problem-solving skills, and the conscious use of digital technologies to counter misinformation and hate speech. • For partner organizations: strengthening pedagogical skills and non-formal methodologies for working with young people from diverse backgrounds. • At the local and European level: dissemination of inclusive practices, strengthening youth networks for the promotion of human rights, and raising awareness of discrimination and social inclusion. HuMotion's approach is aligned with the priorities of the Erasmus+ program, which promotes social inclusion, human rights education, and the active participation of young people in democratic life. The project will also help prepare participants to face the challenges of an increasingly interconnected society, strengthening their role as aware and active citizens in promoting social justice and respect for diversity.
