By implementing the “Let’s Get Greener,” project we aimed to raise awareness among young people and local communities about environmental challenges and the impacts of climate change, while also promoting active citizenship and European values. The project sought to educate and empower youth to take initiative in addressing one of the most pressing global issues of our time. Our main objectives were: • To increase the environmental awareness of young people and local communities, participants engaged in various educational activities focused on environmental education and sustainable development. This included interaction with local students from the "Liceo Statale Martin Luther King" High School, discussions with local stakeholders such as educators and representatives of local authorities, and a presentation by representatives from the Plastic Free ODV Onlus Italia organization about their mission and initiatives, followed by a Q&A session. These efforts culminated in an online public awareness campaign designed and launched by the participants during the Youth Exchange “Let’s Get Greener”. • To encourage, support, and empower young people to actively participate in addressing climate-related issues, providing them with a safe and inclusive space to express their views, exchange ideas, propose solutions and use and empower their creativity. • To promote experiential learning and help participants understand their personal environmental impact, particularly by familiarizing them with the concept of waste footprints. • To offer opportunities for meaningful interaction with various stakeholders, demonstrating to participants that their voices are important and can influence decision-making processes. • To support the inclusion and active participation of young people from socially vulnerable or disadvantaged backgrounds by offering equal learning opportunities and bringing Erasmus+ initiatives to rural areas. • To promote and recognize the value of non-formal education as a key tool for the personal and professional development of young people, fostering essential competences and life skills. • To cultivate a sense of European identity and solidarity among participants by connecting them through a shared project, enhancing intercultural dialogue, cooperation, and understanding of EU priorities regarding climate action and sustainability. Overall, the project aimed to empower young people from different countries to become more informed, engaged, and responsible citizens, capable of contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development both locally and at the European level.
