Objectives

DIVE IN! was designed to enhance innovation and quality in youth work, making non-formal education practices more inclusive through creative and immersive methodologies. The project addressed the growing need for effective tools to combat discrimination and racism, recognizing that young people come from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and interests, which often expose them to multiple forms of discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or political beliefs. In response to the complexity of modern youth realities, where young people face information overload and conflicting narratives, the project aimed to equip youth workers with holistic educational approaches that integrate cognitive, emotional, and social dimensions. By developing critical thinking and a sense of agency, young people could be better guided toward active participation in democratic life. Creative non-formal education methodologies were identified as the most effective tools to facilitate this process, allowing young people to reflect, deconstruct biases, and engage in inclusive learning experiences. To address these needs, DIVE IN! focused on the professional development of youth workers, aligning with the European Training Strategy (ETS) and the ETS Competence Model for Youth Workers. The training program provided hands-on experience with innovative and inclusive non-formal education methodologies, allowing youth workers to develop the skills necessary to design and implement engaging learning experiences for young people with fewer opportunities. Project Objectives - Enhance the quality and innovation of youth work by promoting non-formal learning and fostering active participation among organizations, youth workers, and young people. - Develop creative strategies and techniques that strengthen youth workers' competences, improving their ability to implement inclusive and engaging practices in line with the Erasmus+ Inclusion and Diversity Strategy. - Expand socio-educational youth work at the local level, adapting training practices to different community contexts and fostering active, inclusive, and cohesive communities. The project was directly inspired by the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 and its three key pillars: Engage, Connect, and Empower. By fostering the development and dissemination of innovative, inclusive practices, DIVE IN! empowered youth workers with the competences needed to create engaging non-formal learning opportunities for young people. Additionally, the project aligned with the 11 Youth Goals 2021-2027, particularly focusing on Equality of All Genders, Inclusive Societies, and Quality Learning. At the local level, participants applied their skills by creating and implementing inclusive creative youth activities, directly engaging young people in their communities. At the national level, youth workers shared and exchanged methodologies with stakeholders in formal, non-formal, and informal youth work settings, expanding the reach of innovative practices. At the European level, the project contributed to the creation of a network of youth workers and organizations, fostering the exchange of high-quality, creative-based youth work practices and strengthening collaborations at an international scale. By equipping youth workers with innovative tools, immersive methodologies, and inclusive approaches, DIVE IN! laid the foundation for long-term improvements in youth work, ensuring that non-formal education remains engaging, impactful, and accessible to all young people.
